COMMON QUESTIONS

What are some of the opportunities for expanded ministry that this new building will offer?

  • Worship space for 300+

  • Ample fellowship space for parish-wide meals and feasts

  • Accessible space for children and adult catechesis

  • Enough space to start a parish school

  • Auxiliary ministry space for Jobs for Life, AA, and other ministry opportunities

  • An excellent home base from where to plant more parishes in Forsyth County

What is the timeline of the Deeper Roots campaign?

We are asking for completed Giving Cards to be returned to the church on November 3, 2024. The First Giving Sunday will begin on December 1, 2024, the First Sunday of Advent, and the campaign will continue for three years, concluding on Sunday, November 21, 2027, the Feast of Christ the King.

What will my gift go toward?

Gifts given to the Deeper Roots Campaign will go to pay down the principle on our loan for 1210 Bolton Street and to cover any necessary repairs. If the loan is paid off and we have additional funds from the campaign, then they will go toward improvements or a reserve maintenance fund for 1210 Bolton Street.

Are there any immediate maintenance or improvement needs?

Yes. Concerning immediate improvements, we will improve the lighting on the first floor, paint the main entrance areas, upgrade the audio/visual in the sanctuary, and reconfigure the chancel flooring. Concerning immediate repairs, we will repair some minor rot in the steeple’s cosmetic shell and consider repairing or re-paving the parking lot.

Where are the funds coming from to pay for the building, improvements, and maintenance?

To pay for the building, we are drawing funds monthly from our operating budget, from the Deeper Roots Building Fund, and, if needed, from the proceeds from the sale of Queen Street. To pay for improvements, we are drawing in part from our reserve funds, from the proceeds from the sale of Queen Street if able, from funds given to the Deeper Roots Building Fund that exceed our goal, and from planned savings. To pay for maintenance, we will draw from budgeted reserve maintenance funding, from proceeds from the sale of Queen Street if able, and from future designated giving.

How does paying off the building within five years impact our ministry?

Paying off the loan in five years would free $10,000–$12,000 per month in our operating budget, which would allow us to fund a full-time Parish Administrator and Children’s Ministry Director. In addition, these freed-up funds will place us in a better position to start a parish school and to save for needed improvements and/or a reserve maintenance fund.

When will we move into the Bolton Street facility?

We will begin to move our offices over immediately, using the building for our fall Foundations class. Our goal is to have our first worship service on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
